De-Schooling society: School requires the obedience of a corpse failing to stimulate curiosity and creativity. Todays schools, operate like prisons which in reality are modern social factories. Schooling should make everyone spiritually rich, teaching one how to live, question, explore, create along with creative, self governing critical thinking. It doesn’t.
What we’ve experienced for years is a 5th column designed as a social factory, dumbing children down and so the curse continues uncontested in society.

John Taylor Gatto (born December 15, 1935) is a retired American school teacher with nearly 30 years experience in the classroom, and author of several books on education.

He is an activist critical of compulsory schooling, of the perceived divide between the teen years and adulthood, and of what he characterizes as the hegemonic nature of discourse on education and the education professions.

Gatto was born in the Pittsburgh-area steel town of Monongahela, Pennsylvania. In his youth he attended public schools throughout the Pittsburgh Metro Area including Swissvale, Monongahela, and Uniontown as well as a Catholic boarding school in Latrobe. He did undergraduate work at Cornell, the University of Pittsburgh, and Columbia, then served in the U.S. Army medical corps at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Following army service he did graduate work at the City University of New York, Hunter College, Yeshiva University, the University of California, and Cornell.

He worked as a writer and held several odd jobs before borrowing his roommate’s license to investigate teaching. Gatto also ran for the New York State Senate, 29th District in 1985 and 1988 as a member of the Conservative Party of New York against incumbent David Paterson.

He was named New York City Teacher of the Year in 1989, 1990, and 1991, and New York State Teacher of the Year in 1991. In 1991, he wrote a letter announcing his retirement, titled I Quit, I Think, to the op-ed pages of the Wall Street Journal, saying that he no longer wished to “hurt kids to make a living.” He then began a public speaking and writing career, and has received several awards from libertarian organizations, including the Alexis de Tocqueville Award for Excellence in Advancement of Educational Freedom in 1997.

He promotes homeschooling, and specifically unschooling. Wade A. Carpenter, associate professor of education at Berry College, has called his books “scathing” and “one-sided and hyperbolic, [but] not inaccurate” and describes himself as in agreement with Gatto. Gatto is currently working on a 3-part documentary about compulsory schooling, titled The Fourth Purpose. He says he was inspired by Ken Burns’s Civil War.

What does the school do with the children? Gatto states the following assertions in “Dumbing Us Down”: It makes the children confused. It presents an incoherent ensemble of information that the child needs to memorize to stay in school. Apart from the tests and trials that programming is similar to the television, it fills almost all the “free” time of children.

One sees and hears something, only to forget it again. It teaches them to accept their class affiliation. It makes them indifferent. It makes them emotionally dependent. It makes them intellectually dependent. It teaches them a kind of self-confidence that requires constant confirmation by experts (provisional self-esteem). It makes it clear to them that they cannot hide, because they are always supervised.

What I learned in school vs. What I didn’t learn in school. iTunes: http://goo.gl/n4EgkZ | Bandcamp: http://goo.gl/gDetLT I can’t remember feeling so passionate whilst writing something in ages. I absolutely love a lot of the subjects I mention in this – astronomy, particle physics, pure maths… but I hate that everyone is forced to learn them. It should be a choice.

There are a million other things wrong with education, but this one stood out as the most obvious and most insane. The point of this song is to get people talking – if you share it, use #DontStayInSchool so we can all get involved in the conversation.

I wasn’t taught how to get a job but I can remember dissecting a frog I wasn’t taught how to pay tax but I know loads about Shakespeare’s classics

I was never taught how to vote they devoted that time to defining isotopes I wasn’t taught how to look after my health but mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell

Never spent a lesson on current events instead I studied The Old American West I was never taught what laws there are. I was never taught what laws there are.

Let me repeat – I was not taught the laws for the country I live in, but I know how Henry the VIII killed his women. Divorced beheaded died, divorced beheaded survived glad that’s in my head instead of financial advice

I was shown the wavelengths of different hues of light but I was never taught my human rights Apparently there’s 30, do you know them? I don’t Why the hell can’t we both recite them by rote?!

I know igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks Yet I don’t know squat about trading stocks Or how money works at all – where does it come from? Who controls it? How does the thing that motivates the world function?

not taught how to budget and disburse my earnings I was too busy rehearsing cursive. Didn’t learn how much it costs to raise a kid or what an affidavit is but I spent days on what the quadratic equation is negative b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus 4ac over 2a That’s insane, that’s absolutely insane.

They made me learn that over basic first aid How to recognize the most deadly Mental disorders // or diseases with preventable causes // How to buy a house with a mortgage // if I could afford it ‘cause abstract maths was deemed more important than advice that would literally save thousands of lives but it’s cool, ‘cause now I could tell you if the number of unnecessary deaths caused by that choice was prime.

Never taught present day practical medicines, but I was told what the ancient hippocratic method is “I’ve got a headache, the pain is ceaseless what should I take?” umm… maybe try some leeches? “Could we discuss domestic abuse and get the facts or how to help my depressed friend with their mental state?” Ummm… no but learn mental maths because “you won’t have a calculator with you every day!”

They say it’s not the kids, the parents are the problem Then if you taught the kids to parent that’s the problem solved then! All this advice about using a condom but none for when you actually have a kid when you want one I’m only fluent in this language, for serious? The rest of the world speaks two, do you think I’m an idiot?

They chose the solar over the political system So like a typical citizen now I don’t know what I’m voting on which policies exist, or how to make them change mais oui, je parle un peu de Francais So at 18, I was expected to elect a representative For a system I had never ever ever ever been presented with But I won’t take it I’ll tell everyone my childhood was wasted I’ll share it everywhere how I was “educated” And insist these pointless things

Don’t Stay In School

In this video we examine how public schools and the mainstream media have contributed to the growth of a passive citizenry, thus paving the way for the rise of tyranny.

We then look at the role anti-authoritarians play in a free and flourishing society. Society is at a point where evil must not advance so support the greatest administration America has seen in decades. It’s up to those who know the truth to create change to our Father’s Glory so choose light while the choice is still available.

Freedom is at stake just as socialism, communism, Marxism and enslavement must not prevail. It’s up to each one of us to ensure it doesn’t. This isn’t the time to back off or give in because the servant is no greater than the Master.

Christ Jesus came to set man free while worldly humanism enslaves. Embrace your cross and race towards your goal while expressing your faith like St Paul who took his love for Christ into a pagan world.

Accept your call, the call of God Almighty. First, you must make the commitment to face a world entrenched in Sin.

Do not ignore His sweet calling. Stand for the truth at all cost as you were not made to fit in, but stand out. Freedom exist to do what you ought, not what you like.

Defy tyranny today to God’s Glory. Every man dies but not every man lives. Saul means great one; Paul means little one, so go forth in Faith.
